To replicate changes from a self-managed or cloud-hosted SQL Server database to a supported destination such as BigQuery or Cloud Storage, you can configure your database as a Datastream source. Your SQL Server deployment type and selected change data capture (CDC) method determine how you enable CDC, grant user privileges, and configure log retention.
Supported databases
Datastream works with the following types of SQL Server databases:
- Self-managed SQL Server (on-premise or cloud-hosted)
- Amazon RDS for SQL Server
- Cloud SQL for SQL Server
- Azure SQL Database tier S3 and later (only supported when using the change tables CDC method)
